Series A funding news: Fuel for our zero loneliness vision

We’re beyond thrilled to share the news of our $23 million Series A fundraise – a major milestone and more importantly, fuel for our zero loneliness vision.

At Andromeda, we’ve always believed technology should make us feel more human, not less. Abi – our endlessly curious, patient and empathetic humanoid companion – was created to do just that: replace hours of loneliness with moments of meaningful connection.

Now, with the support of a remarkable group of investors, we’re excited to share that we’ve closed a $23 million Series A funding round to fuel our vision of creating the world’s most emotionally intelligent humanoid companion so that no one has to face life alone.

Backed by visionary leaders

The news is significant for a few reasons, including being the largest raise led by a woman in Australia this year.

It’s also distinctive for being majority women-led, bringing together a powerful cohort of female investors including Forerunner Ventures’ Eurie Kim (ŌURA Chairperson), Main Sequence’s Alezeia Brown, Rethink Impact’s Heidi Patel and Artesian’s Ananya Sinha. Along with Visible Ventures, Trampoline and our returning investors Startmate and Purpose Ventures, these visionary leaders are a force to have in our corner.

And that counts when your vision is as big as ours.

Fuelling our vision

We already see the effect Abi has every day, supporting care teams and sparking joy for residents in aged care homes.

But there’s so much more to do. This funding will help us fast track our work here in Australia, growing our team and production to bring the magic of Abi’s companionship to more aged care partners, faster.

It will help us launch the next-generation Abi (Genesis Abi) – the same companion with major upgrades making her the first humanoid robot ready to support Australia’s workforce. Fully autonomous, residents will meet an Abi who’s even more intelligent and emotionally attuned. A companion who brightens days, sparks conversations in up to 90 languages and listens with infinite patience.

It will also see us begin working in the US, starting with aged care as we have here in Australia. In the US, we’ll be bringing creative and animation robotics specialists onto our team to benefit everyone who spends time with Abi and to conquer loneliness. For good.

The even bigger picture

Three years ago, we set out to solve the loneliness epidemic by redefining how humans connect with technology. Sparked by our co-founder Grace Brown’s own experience with loneliness during the COVID pandemic, Abi and Andromeda began.

Now, we’re at the frontier of emotion, character AI and social systems design, building a new kind of relationship that feels warm, helpful and profoundly human because the world needs more of that.

We believe the next mass technological adoption will be the home companion robot. With Abi, we’re leading that shift – starting in aged care where the need for meaningful connection is greatest. From there, we’ll keep working towards our zero loneliness vision, because we believe in the power of connection and we see it every day.

We’re beyond grateful to our investors, partners, residents and care teams who inspire and support us. Together, we’re building a world where loneliness has no place.

If you’d like to join our team and mission, check out our open roles. We’re hiring across departments in Australia and the US - come build with us.
